Experience 4WD With a Working Transfer Case

Your four wheel drive model comes equipped with something called a transfer case. This component works as part of your transmission, by extension. The transfer case serves as one major difference between 4WD and all wheel drive models.

Since an all wheel drive vehicle is always engaged in an all wheel drive function, it must make use of three differentials to distribute power. A 4WD vehicle, in comparison, can be switched from the standard two wheel drive mode to 4WD as needed. When you make the switch, the transfer case is engaged and the drive lines will then send out power to your car's front and rear differentials. That is how power is distributed to all of the wheels.

Let our Volkswagen service team assist with your transmission, transfer case, and any other component of your vehicle that requires maintenance.
